Are You On Facebook? Get Excited!

Use Facebook connect to login to Shockwave.com!

You may have noticed something different in the upper right-hand side of the Shockwave homepage recently: A snazzy “Sign In With Facebook” button. Why? Well, we like you – so we wanted to make signing in, registering and playing with your real friends on Shockwave faster and easier.

Have a Facebook Account? Now when you click on “Sign in with Facebook” (anywhere that button appears on Shockwave), you can create a free Shockwave account in seconds. If you already have a Shockwave account (look at you, trendsetter), click on the button to link your Facebook and Shockwave accounts and poof! You can start showing off your high scores, trophies and game reviews on your Facebook wall – and play games on Shockwave with your Facebook friends. Also, once you’ve connected your accounts, all you need to do is click the button to be signed in the next time you come around. No need to put in a user name or password!

So go ahead, use the next few seconds to “Sign in with Facebook” on the upper right-hand side of the Shockwave homepage or anywhere you see the button.

Good Bye Ink Link

Today is a sad day for us at Shockwave because we have to say good bye to a dear friend, at least for a little while. While we know there are many players that love to get on Inklink and test out their drawing and perception skills, it has come to our attention that there are a few other players that have been causing disruptions in the game. We love our players and appreciate all your feedback on the game and have taken it all into consideration. Right now we are taking some time to re-evaluate Inklink and make it into a better experience for everyone. If you have any ideas on what you might like to see in a newer version of Inklink or how we can improve it, please send us your thoughts!

Update 3/19/10:

First, we would like to thank you all for the comments and support.  As avid players, you’ve come up with some great ideas to help make Inklink better and we are listening.  We know that it’s missed, so we are doing our best to get the new version up and running as soon as possible. The bad news is that creating a new version of a game like Inklink does take some time, and it will still be a little while before it can be unveiled.

However, we know that the sudden removal of the game was a bit of a shock to our loyal players. Unfortunately, the level of game disruption by a few troublemakers had escalated to the point that we had to act.  Based on the incredible outpouring in the blog comments, though, we’ve decided to give the current version of Inklink another try.  We’ll be making Inklink live again on Tuesday March 23, and monitoring it closely, with the hope that the disruptions will subside and the game can stay up until the new version is ready. We’d like to ask each and every Inklink player to really consider the impact their actions have on the rest of the community, and strive to create an atmosphere of fun and healthy competition that we can all continue to enjoy for a long time.

In the meantime  we wanted to give you a little insight into some of the upgrades Inklink is undergoing. Don’t worry, we aren’t giving it a complete overhaul, just adding some improvements.

- Find friends from the lobby
- Chat with friends in the lobby while in another game room
- New colors
- Shapes
- Choosing the number of rounds
- Better accountability for booting

Super Bowl Sunday is almost here again! It all comes down to this. After another tough and long season, only 2 teams remain. After Sunday, a champion will be crowned and another amazing year will be in the books.

Football has been America’s favorite game (as well as mine)  for quite some time and I’ll be celebrating the Super Bowl just like you. Who created this day and when still remains a puzzle, but in my book any excuse to play some puzzle games is to be honored. You know that Shockwave is my favorite resource for free online games (and download games too!), but it is especially wonderful when it comes down to puzzle games because there are games here I cannot find anywhere else online.

The Daily Jigsaw is one such game, presenting a new jigsaw game made fresh every day from your photos. That’s right, a new puzzle game every single day! Let’s not forget other boxy favorites like Blocky, Cubis 2, Brickz! and Bloxorz. The matching dilemmas, the power of a pen and the laws of physics challenge my brain for hours.Speaking of the brain, puzzle game solving is great to keep the noggin in shape. Shockwave has a whole category of Brain Games which can help your think tank get its daily exercise.
I think by now you realize that  Shockwave is the place where I’ll be celebrating puzzle day (and every day). There’s lots of puzzling fun that I haven’t mentioned like the explosiveness of Demolition City 2 and Dynamite Blast, the popping fun of Popopopop and Pop & Drop and the glitz of Bejeweled 2. Trust me, there are many more games) than a single blog post can hold. That’s why it’s all neatly displayed in the Puzzle Games category on Shockwave.com. A few weeks ago, the Shockwave team sat down to discuss how we could give thanks to you, our members, this holiday weekend.  As we all know, Thanksgiving is a time to connect and reflect with friends and family… but as we also all know, after a day or two of connecting, most of us need a break.  We wanted to thank you for being a loyal Shockwave member by helping on both fronts - helping you connect, while also helping you take a break and recharge.

Halloween is almost here and I’m spending my last moments before Trick or Treating (yes, I still go Trick or Treating) with all the Shockwave Monsters.  I’ve gathered them all up in one place where they’re waiting to shoot, hit and run and finally R.I.P. Whether you’re up for a grave shift, in the mood to pop some eye balls, or want to become The Pretender I’ve got you covered.

If you’re not scarred enough, there are some Spooky Download Specials.   I’m enjoying some legendary stories by the campfire, peeking into the Dracula Files and getting hooked on the spooktacular Fishdom sequel.

However, I must confess that my all-time Halloween game favorites are the special treats found in Daily Jigsaw and The Daily Diff.  Check ‘em out, ‘cause the special images and game trophies will be gone once the ghosts and zombies return to their graves.
