Since I really dislike them, I always hesitate about downloading a game when I see “Hidden Object” in the description. I wish that if something was an adventure/detective type game, with some searching for clues aspect, that you would not call it a “Hidden Object” game. And I wish that if it is truly a Hidden Object (i.e. teeny or even artfully drawn) game that you would “confess” that fact by showing those stereotypical long list of objects hidden in the sample screen shots. Why aren’t these lists in the screen shots, anyway? They used to be…..

I’m very happy to see that we will be getting Kitchen Brigade. I appreciate the fact that the games you chose this week are all seasonal (Halloween), but I am disappointed that they are all basically HOG’s.

Since we have only three new games, and then The Conjurer coming on Friday, can we expect a fifth game this week? I have to admit that I am disappointed, as I had hoped that we would get an extra game or something for the holiday, instead of fewer games.

Super great games this week, Shockwave. I think the variety of games have been awesome this month for everyone. For those of us who love HO games and the ones who do not there have been a wide range of games lately. Some weeks are only time managment and strategy games. You just can’t please ev1 no matter what. Keep up the wonderful work and keep all the great games coming! Can you please get Hidden Expedition: Devils Triangle? Thanks

I knew when the games came out this week that the anti-HOG folks would be unhapy, but what about the weeks when there were no HO games hmmm? Not only that but the games did have mini games and puzzles. I really enjoy Campfire legend as it is more difficult . Frankly I don’t care for the TM games, but I think things even out in the end. For those complaining about paying for a years subscription, see how far that would have gotten you on another site!!!

I, for one, would not pay for shockwave if there weren’t lots of hidden object games. Hope I’m not the only one. I’m hoping for Insider Tales: Casanova. Loved that you got Dracula Files and Campfire Legends! I’ll be downloading all of the games this week. Thanks.

    Posted October 28, 2009 at 10:21 am | Permalink

I agree with everyone else. While these hidden object games are keeping in the theme of Halloween, they are ALL hidden objects! I pay for unlimited by the year so I will take what I can get since I basically already bought it but this is really getting ridiculous. If given the choice, I would NOT have purchased these games and there have been multiple times that I did not enjoy ANY of the games offered that week. Variety is the spice of life, and brings consumers back to renew their subscriptions….something to think about.

  27. Posted October 28, 2009 at 10:25 am | Permalink

I would like to see Avenue Flo on Shockwave. I have played the trial on another site and really, really, really want to finish it. I am also a little disapointed with this week’s games, but realize that you guys can’t make everyone happy all of the time. Besides, there’s always next week!

I’m going to start out now with the number one game on my wish list, and it isn’t out yet! It’s the new Delicious (Emily TMG) game, which is holiday themed. Please, please get it when it comes out!

I would love to see Zuma’s Revenge! I played the trial elsewhere, and LOVED it! It would be a great game here, because we rarely get action or puzzle games. I’d also like to recommend World Mosaics 1, and I thank you again for getting World Mosaics 2, which is a great puzzle game. I wouldn’t even mind seeing an inlay game thrown in now and then, as they are a nice change of pace, occasionally.

I’d love to see Avenue Flo, Jack Keane (Full length adventure game), Agatha Christie Dead Man’s Folly (I would write this twice if I thought we’d get it faster!), and the newest Jo Jo Fashion Show game.

I actually like HOG’s a lot, so I don’t like it when I see people referring to “anti-HOG people.” When you are extremely excited and can’t wait until Tuesday afternoon rolls around, and then see you have none of your favorite types of games on the list, it doesn’t matter at that moment if it all “evens out” for the month, even though I agree that it does end up evening out, usually. So, I’d like to see less of attacking posters here, and more good game suggestions without trying to diminish other people’s opinions. I’m enjoying Campfire Legends a lot, and I realize that there aren’t a lot of non-HOG’s for the Halloween season, and that might be why we got them this week. However, I do like a variety and I am disappointed about only having three games this week, with a fourth on its way, instead of the usual five games.

I still think Shockwave’s customer service is the best, and that is why I’m still here. I think you guys bend over backwards trying to make a diverse group happy, and I appreciate it.

Loved Campfire Legends and enjoyed the Dracula game too, but I have to agree, some variety would be nice. Any word on the new Nancy Drew games? Or Farm Frenzy 3?
You should also look into “Trapped”, the new game from GoGii - its a lot of fun (another HOG, but with a rather cool plot). I’d love it if you got Jojo’s Fashion Show 3, but iwin is still holding an exclusive, I guess.

Reading the comments only proves that you can’t make all of the people happy. i’m a club member and that deal is incredible. i don’t care to own them and get to play anything i want. i download several a week. As for the complaints about games freezing and other technical issues, i find them irritating as hell. It’s not the games, but the systems of those complaining that is the problem. i have played a couple of hundred games here and not one has frozen or been a problem. NOT ONE. People need to check for driver updates and make sure they have the power to play the larger file games. My request is for more like the Carol Reed (East Side Story) series. i think strategy is the only really cheated category here and there are a lot of them out there. i would love it if you included some of the really better games like “The Lost Crown” or Johnathon Boakes “Lights out” series. Those who like the Nancy Drew games would go crazy.

I am a terminal patient that is bed bound; i am one of those that can play a 50round game in a night…..
SO PLEASE PLEASE give me and all of us here more cooking and time managment/stratagy game…. Thanking you so very much for having this sight…… I really use it and only it, sumter.girl

  57. Posted October 31, 2009 at 4:46 am | Permalink

To unhappy: Shockwave truly is the best value out there. Other sites which allow you to play all of their games for one price per month charge $20 a MONTH. You read that right! I was shocked (no pun intended) when I saw that cost. Yes, they may get some games sooner, but I’d rather wait for them here, instead of paying a ridiculous fee like that. I could buy three games a month here or at other sites instead of paying $20 a month, and then I would own the games. I might never play them again after finishing them, and it would still be a better deal than joining one of the newer game sites that offer a monthly plan for unlimited play.

Shockwave is the best value, period. Plus, their customer service here on the blog is second to none. Other sites don’t listen to suggestions at all. I know–I’ve belonged to several other sites, for years at a time, and this site is far and above the best.

I don’t care much for the HOG myself, some of them can be ok, we do need a good variety, yes, but every single game for one week should not be of one type, that goes for ANY game type. It’s boring.

Well, there you have it. There are definitely two camps with a few folks who like everything. I for one don ‘t think my 10.00$ a month will go further any where else. HOWEVER for those who are deeply unhappy i say”YOU BETTER SHOP AROUND” you won’t find any other subscription site that offers this variety for the cost. I sympathize with those who feel short changed but your turn will come. I WOULD LIKE the rest of the Nancy Drew games, Mortimer Beckett and other large file strategy adventure games.

  63. Posted October 31, 2009 at 9:45 am | Permalink

I am with the majority. Hidden Objects are not that fun. Half the time you lose your eye site looking for something that you don’t even know what it is or you know it by a more common name. Some veriety would be great!

  64. ratgirlagogo
    Posted October 31, 2009 at 1:54 pm | Permalink

Just wanted to add that many of the games described as Hidden Object are really point and click adventures - Campfire Legends: the Hookman this week, for example, is an adventure game much more than a hidden object game. Those of you who hate HOGs might want to just try out some of the newer ones - you might be surprised to find out they’re more up your alley than you thought.

I know that some people would rather not hear anything against HOG games and seem to feel that it all works out in the end. However…. numbers don’t lie. 45%of the games in the last 24 have been HOG games, 17% strategy, 17% TM, 13% matching, 4% action, and 4% card & board. So there is a legit request to even out the games. So what do you say Shockwave?

Part of the reason shockwave has been getting so many HOGs lately is because that’s mostly what’s out there. They don’t actually create games, they distribute them. So, since the vast majority of games coming out lately have been HOGs, that’s all Shockwave can give us. A lot of the games people keep asking for (Jojo’s 3, Avenue Flo, etc,) are still exclusive elsewhere, so Shockwave can’t get them.

I do agree, they need to reclassify a lot of the “hidden object” games as point-and-click adventure or strategy or the like.

Oh, and I suspect the reason Shockwave gets the newest games later than other sites is because they don’t pay the highest fees to get them immediately. That’s part of the reason they offer such a great deal on subscriptions, I think.

Anyway, just wanted to provide some perspective and stick up for Shockwave.

My comment is not about what kind of games I would like to see but what I would like to happen on this page. I have noticed that there are no responds from the staff. I am unsure if the responds are posted or not however I would like to see more counication on this page. It might help for others to understand what is going on behind the scences a little more. Also please tell use if the games that have been request are being considered or not.
    Thank you.

Since everyone is so anti-HO, seems like a great time to ask if Shockwave has any intention of obtaining and releasing the following games: Enlightenus, Hidden Expedition: Devil’s Triangle, Insider Tales: The Secret of Casanova, Strange Cases: The Tarot Card Mystery, Reincarnations: Awakening, Puppetshow: Mysteryof Joyville or Hidden Magic? I only ask because these games have been released on another game website, and I have always looked forward to Shockwave having those games released not too far afterwards. Thank you, and despite the anti-HOG people who threaten not to renew, those who do love them, will continue to love Shockwave, such as I have for almost two years.

Seriously how many things can you hide in the hidden object games ANYWAY! They must make these because they are so easy. I too don’t even down load anything that says its a HOG. I am sick of the HOG! I like more TM or strategy…Plants and Zombies was the best game ever. Garden, farm anything, anything, but hide an object…yuk!

It would be preferable if you were able to offer a different genre for each game release each week, (ie strategy, hidden object, match 3). I understand you’re somewhat limited by contractual limitations and the like, but still think you can mix it up a bit better.

I prefer the strategy and time management games, will play hidden object if I am totally bored and unable to sleep at some ridiculous hour of the morning, and abhor the match 3 games.

In terms of game requests, I am eagerly awaiting Jojo’s Fashion Show: World Tour, Avenue Flo, Empire Builder: Ancient Egypt, Hells Kitchen, and Farm Frenzy 3.

@Melissa - I agree, I’d love to hear back from the Shockwave team more often. Catnip had a great suggestion about putting the Shockwave staff’s posts in a different color, so that they were easy to pick out from the other thousand or so posts, and I think that the Shockwave guys are going to try to do that.
